About the Institute
The Bhaktivedanta International Center for Chaitanya Vaiṣṇava Studies is rooted in Bengal’s bhakti and Sanskrit traditions and inspired by the legacy of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu. It draws on a rich intellectual, textual, and devotional heritage.
It aims to be a global hub for the study, preservation, and dissemination of Gauḍīya Vaiṣṇava thought, literature, and living traditions.
The University of Calcutta—a historic custodian of critical Sanskrit scholarship—provides an ideal academic foundation for this initiative. In collaboration with the Bhaktivedanta Research Center, the Center seeks to cultivate a dynamic intellectual space that brings into meaningful dialogue:
- Śāstric wisdom(Sanskrit texts and theology)
- Bhakti praxis (lived devotional traditions)
- Contemporary academic inquiry (interdisciplinary and global perspectives)
Rooted in the Bengal legacy—where devotion, philosophy, literature, and music converged in a powerful cultural movement—the Center aspires to rearticulate Bhakti as both an intellectual discipline and a living civilizational force.
